敘利亞軍方27日證實，敘國部隊與親政府民兵聯手，已奪回並「完全掌控」中部霍姆斯省的歷史古城暨重要商業中心帕米拉。敘國總統巴夏．阿薩德也宣稱，收復帕米拉乃「反恐戰爭的重大成就」。
敘國部隊獲俄羅斯空襲奧援，這幾天來攻勢猛進，政府軍直升機與戰車不斷轟擊中東遜尼派恐怖聖戰組織「伊斯蘭國」（IS）防衛帕米拉的陣地。IS去年5月占據帕米拉，如今易幟，顯示敗相已露。
